The Email You Will Regret by Thursday
One prompt, sixty seconds, before the angry email leaves your outbox. Keeps the deadline and the consequence intact, removes the sentence you would have winced at.
Founder, Simmons Solutions. Three years hands-on with AI.
In plain terms: The email you'll regret by Thursday. Sixty seconds and one prompt keeps the customer.
You already wrote it. Don't send it yet.
The invoice is 60 days late. You typed the whole thing in one go and it felt great.
It will also cost you the account.
The move: paste it in before it leaves your outbox.
The exact words to use
Copy this, paste it into ChatGPT, and add your own material underneath it.
Rewrite this email so it stays firm and keeps the deadline and the consequence exactly as I wrote them. Do not soften the ask. Do not add apologies. Keep it under 120 words. Give me two versions: one direct, one warmer.
Then paste your email underneath it. That is the whole thing.
What comes back
Same spine. None of the shrapnel.
The deadline survives. The consequence survives. What goes is the sentence you would have read back on Thursday and winced at.
The one thing to watch
Ask for two versions and pick one. Asking for one gets you the safe one, and the safe one does not get paid.
You are not being nicer. You are being effective.
Firm still works. Furious does not.
This is part of 5 Minutes With ChatGPT, a short series of things a busy owner can actually do today. Every one of them works on the free version, uses something you already have, and takes about five minutes.
If you would rather the work just happened without you doing it at all, that is what the systems are for.
